Verified Published on EE’s own live help pages as the any-phone equivalent of 150, and listed under Pay Monthly mobile in EE’s published complaints code of practice (April 2026 edition). EE states its call centres are open 8am–9pm Monday to Friday and 8am–8pm at weekends. Re-checked against the code of practice 27 July 2026. Charged at your standard landline rate; included in most mobile call allowances.

Getting to the right team

We don't yet know how EE's phone menu is structured, so we're not going to guess. If you work it out, we'd like to hear from you.

Before you call

What to know first

Asking for a PAC can save you the notice charge. EE requires 30 days’ notice to cancel, even once your minimum term has ended. But if you switch using a PAC or STAC, the agreement ends when your number transfers — and EE says it calculates any charge from the transfer date, not the date it issued the code.

Check the cost before you commit. Text INFO to 85075 and EE tells you whether you will be charged. Verified

Two numbers circulated for EE mobile — 0800 956 6000 and 0800 079 8586 — are wrong. The first could not be found on ee.co.uk at all; the second is EE’s broadband and home phone line. Unverified

How to actually leave

Keep your numberText PAC to 65075

A PAC ports your number to the new provider. Give it to them, not to EE.

Start freshText STAC to 75075

A STAC closes the account without taking your number with you.

EE says the text arrives straightaway, and codes last 30 days. You can also request online with a one-time PIN. More than one number on the account means going online or calling. Text INFO to 85075 first to check what you would be charged. Verified

What it costs

Notice, exit fees and the handset

Notice30 days (or none, if you switch with a code)

EE requires 30 days’ notice even after the minimum term ends, and lets you give it up to 45 days before that term expires. Switching with a PAC or STAC ends the agreement on transfer instead, which is why the code route is usually cheaper.

Leaving earlyEE calls it the Remaining Contract Charge.

EE totals the monthly charges left in your minimum term at a daily rate, takes VAT off, deducts 4% for early payment, adds any outstanding Add to Plan instalments, then puts VAT back on. Out of contract, you instead pay a notice charge of 30 days’ line rental from the day you contact them.

Your handsetEE rolls the handset into the same bill.

Unlike O2, Three and Vodafone, EE does not treat the device as a separate agreement when you leave — outstanding Add to Plan instalments are folded into the Remaining Contract Charge rather than surviving as their own debt.

Your rights

What you're entitled to

  • Your code has to arrive within a minute. For residential customers Ofcom requires the losing provider to send a PAC or STAC no later than one minute after the request. Beware of guides quoting two hours or two working days — those are the rules for business customers. Verified
  • Text is not the only route they must offer. Providers must give at least three free ways to get a code: by text, online through your account, and by phone. Text and online have to be available at all times. Codes last 30 days. Verified
  • Switching kills the notice period. If you move using a code, your old contract terminates on the working day the switch completes, and your provider must not bill you for any notice period running past that date. This is the single most valuable rule here — it does not, however, cancel an early termination charge if you are still inside your minimum term. Verified
  • They must tell you what you still owe on the handset. The switching information sent with your code must say whether the handset sits on a separate contract, and either what is still payable on it after you move or the date you stop paying. It must also give your total final charge as a single figure. Verified
  • The switch itself is quick, and free. Porting must complete within one working day, any loss of service must not exceed one working day, and no charge may be made for taking your number with you. Your number stays portable for at least a month after you leave. Verified

One rule is worth more than any script: switch with a code and your provider cannot bill you for a notice period beyond the switch date. The full explainer, including what it does not cover, is here.
