Aviva Signature home insurance customer service
0345 030 7078Getting to the right team
We don't yet know how Aviva's phone menu is structured, so we're not going to guess. If you work it out, we'd like to hear from you.
Before you call
Check which Aviva product you are on first. Aviva runs home insurance under four separate names — Signature, AvivaPlus, Aviva Online and Aviva Premium — with different servicing numbers and different cancellation fees. The number below is for Signature, their main direct product. Your policy documents will say which one you hold.
Mind the digit. Aviva’s home line is 0345 030 7078; their Signature car renewals line is 0345 030 7077. Both are real, and they are one digit apart. Verified
Opting out of auto-renewal is free, and Aviva charges no admin fee for making changes to a home policy. Cite AXA or Direct Line with a specific like-for-like buildings and contents quote. General
What you're entitled to
- Your renewal can't cost more than an equivalent new customer would pay. Under the FCA's pricing rules (PS21/5, implemented through ICOBS 6B and in force since 1 January 2022), the renewal price for the same cover through the same channel must be no higher than the equivalent new-business price. The FCA reviewed these rules in July 2025 and left them in place. Verified
- Fourteen days to change your mind. A statutory cooling-off period applies from the start of cover or from when you receive your documents, whichever is later. It applies again after each automatic renewal. Verified
- Opting out of auto-renewal is free. You can't be charged for turning it off, and you can turn it off at any time. Verified
- Cancelling Signature cover after 14 days costs £29. That is Aviva’s own published figure for Signature, plus Insurance Premium Tax where it applies. Cancel inside the 14-day cooling-off period and there is no fee at all, with a pro-rata refund for unused days. Aviva Online and Aviva Premium carry a different fee, £30 — another reason to check which product you hold. Verified
What they'll say, and what to say back
They doEmphasises cover breadth and quality rather than price.
You sayCounter with a genuine like-for-like buildings and contents benchmark. Quality arguments only work when the comparison is not equivalent.
They doDirects you to online self-service.
You sayCall the number below instead. The online journey processes decisions; it does not negotiate.
They doOffers a small initial reduction.
You sayDecline the first offer and name your benchmark figure.
General These patterns are drawn from published consumer reporting on insurer retention behaviour, not from Aviva’s internal scripts.
Lines that work
"My renewal is £X but I have the same buildings and contents cover for £Y elsewhere — will you match it?"
General Names the cover type and both figures. Specific beats vague.
"What is the best you can do to retain me?"
General Use after declining their first offer, not before.
We publish these as effective general phrasing. They are not insider scripts, and we don't claim a specific saving from using them.
