OVO Energy: the number to call about your tariff

The number OVO publishes, the longest free-exit window of any supplier we cover, and two numbers circulating that OVO has never published.

Pay monthly customer service

0330 303 5063

Verified Published on OVO’s own help page for pay monthly customers. OVO gives two different sets of hours for it — Monday to Friday 9am–5pm on the help page, and 8am–6pm on their cancel-a-switch page. Checked 27 July 2026. Charged at your standard landline rate; included in most mobile call allowances.

Getting to the right team

We don't yet know how OVO's phone menu is structured, so we're not going to guess. If you work it out, we'd like to hear from you.

Before you call

What to know first

OVO give you 53 days, not the 49 most suppliers do. If your fixed tariff has less than 53 days to run, no exit fee applies however your tariff is worded. That is four days more room than E.ON Next or EDF allow.

Two numbers widely listed for OVO are not OVO’s. Guides give 0800 069 9831 for payment support and 0330 175 9668 for complaints. Neither appears anywhere on ovoenergy.com. The real financial support line is 0800 408 6615. Unverified

You do not ring OVO to leave — they say so directly: sign up with the new supplier and they will tell OVO. The only thing you can cancel by phone is a switch to OVO, inside the cooling-off period. Verified

What leaving costs

Exit fees, cooling off and complaints

Exit feeOVO gives you 53 days, the most generous window we found.

No exit fee at all on their variable tariff, Simpler, or on Pay As You Go. On a fixed tariff a fee may apply only if you have more than 53 days left, and none applies when you renew or move to another OVO fixed tariff. OVO does not publish the amount — their charge list says only that your contract will tell you. A £30-per-fuel figure circulates widely and appears nowhere on their site.

Cooling off14 days

Fourteen days from the day after your contract starts, with no exit fee if you leave inside it. You still pay for the energy used.

ComplaintsEight weeks

OVO says about three quarters of complaints are resolved by the next working day and it aims to settle the rest within eight weeks, after which you can go to the Energy Ombudsman.

The window worth knowing: Near the end of a fixed tariff you can leave free of charge even if your tariff carries an exit fee. 49 days is the common figure — British Gas, Octopus, E.ON Next and EDF all state it, and British Gas writes it as “49 days / seven weeks”, which is the same thing and explains why some suppliers quote weeks instead. Two do differ: OVO gives 53 days, and ScottishPower’s exit fee page says seven weeks in one section and six in another. Verified
