Both numbers and hours are on esure’s own help pages. Its policy booklet says bank holiday hours may differ and to check the website, but we found no page listing them. For Text Relay, esure says to put 18001 before any of its numbers. Verified

Before you call
You do not have to phone to cancel. esure’s help centre says cancelling is done by live chat once you log in to your account and choose “Need help?”, during the same hours as the phone lines. Only the policyholder can cancel. Verified
Stopping auto-renewal needs a few days’ notice, and esure gives two different figures. Its website says at least 4 days before the renewal date to make sure payment is not collected; its policy booklet says at least 5. Allow the longer one. You can switch auto-renewal off yourself in your account under Policy Summary. Verified
Ignore the number on esure’s own Contact Us page. It gives 0345 609 8971 for car queries, a number that appears on no other esure page we read and carries no label or hours. We lead with the number esure publishes, with hours, for customer service and for leaving. Verified
esure and Sheilas’ Wheels are the same company. Both are esure Group brands, underwritten by esure Insurance Limited, and esure says the group was bought by Ageas in 2025. A Sheilas’ Wheels quote is therefore unlikely to move esure; cite an insurer outside the group. Verified
What you're entitled to
- Your renewal can't cost more than an equivalent new customer would pay. Under the FCA's pricing rules (PS21/5, implemented through ICOBS 6B and in force since 1 January 2022), the renewal price for the same cover through the same channel must be no higher than the equivalent new-business price. The FCA reviewed these rules in July 2025 and left them in place. Verified
- Fourteen days to change your mind. A statutory cooling-off period applies from the start of cover or from when you receive your documents, whichever is later. It applies again after each automatic renewal. Verified
- Opting out of auto-renewal is free. You can't be charged for turning it off, and you can turn it off at any time. Verified
- Cancelling costs £29, £67 or £36, depending on when you leave. esure’s own fee table for esure Car Insurance bought or renewed from 28 February 2025: £29 inside the 14-day cooling-off period of your first year, £67 later in the first year, and £36 in any later year. esure Flex is £29, then £58. esure’s help centre adds that there is no fee for cancelling within the cooling-off period in later policy years. If a fault claim has been made, the booklet says no premium is refunded. Changing your policy costs £15 if you do it yourself online, £27 through the call centre or chat. Verified
