We don't yet know how E.ON Next's phone menu is structured, so we're not going to guess. If you work it out, we'd like to hear from you.
Before you call
What to know first
You do not ring E.ON Next to leave. They say it themselves: you do not need to contact your old supplier. Sign up with the new one and they drive the switch, which takes up to five working days. E.ON Next can only object if you owe them money. The number below is for querying your tariff, an exit fee or a complaint.
Their phone lines close earlier than anyone else we cover. 9am to 5pm Monday to Thursday, 9am to 4pm on Friday, and nothing at the weekend. If you need them, Friday afternoon is already too late. Verified
E.ON Next publishes standing charges and unit rates on its own site, but as downloadable PDFs rather than on-page tables — and fixed tariff rates only after you enter a postcode. Verified
What leaving costs
Exit fees, cooling off and complaints
Exit feeIt depends which tariff you are on, and E.ON Next will not generalise.
Their help pages say to check your own tariff information rather than quoting a figure. One tariff we could verify, Next Pledge, charges £25 per fuel to move to another supplier and nothing at all to switch tariff within E.ON Next. Their variable tariff, Next Flex, carries no exit fee. Several fixed tariffs are named in their terms as having none.
Cooling off14 days
Fourteen days from agreeing the contract. If supply has already started you still get the full window, but you pay for the energy used.
ComplaintsEight weeks
Email, WhatsApp or the number above. E.ON Next publishes no first-response target, and escalation to the Energy Ombudsman opens after eight weeks or on a final offer letter.
The window worth knowing: Near the end of a fixed tariff you can leave free of charge even if your tariff carries an exit fee. 49 days is the common figure — British Gas, Octopus, E.ON Next and EDF all state it, and British Gas writes it as “49 days / seven weeks”, which is the same thing and explains why some suppliers quote weeks instead. Two do differ: OVO gives 53 days, and ScottishPower’s exit fee page says seven weeks in one section and six in another. Verified
